Why chitin matters

Chitin is a structural polysaccharide found in fungal cell walls and insect exoskeletons. Applied in-furrow, it stimulates populations of chitin degrading bacteria, primarily actinomycetes and Bacillus species, which are also among the most effective natural suppressors of soil borne fungal pathogens. The result is a more biologically competitive root zone from day one, without adding a fungicide.
